Bespoke Staircases for Refurbished Home
For this luxury home refurbishment, Input Joinery was commissioned to design and manufacture two bespoke staircases: a striking main staircase and a secondary self-supporting staircase for the bedroom. The project focused on high-end finishes, modern design flexibility and a statement visual impact upon entry, while working within existing structural constraints and client design preferences.
The client’s main objectives were:
-
To replace the existing staircases with bespoke, premium-quality designs.
-
To create a ‘wow-factor’ entrance with the main staircase.
-
To install a modern and self-supporting bedroom staircase that complements the home’s interior.
-
To retain flexibility in finish options, baluster styles and glass choices throughout the process.
Design and Materials
The staircases were crafted using Red Grandis for the treads, risers and strings, chosen for durability and premium appearance. Handrails and newels were made from European Oak, adding warmth and a refined finish to the overall design.
The balustrades were constructed from powder-coated metal, complementing the timber while maintaining a contemporary look. Clear toughened and laminated glass panels were incorporated for a minimal, modern feel, with frameless options for an even cleaner finish
Technical Highlights
- The main staircase features continuous curved transitions, creating a seamless flow and elegant silhouette that enhances the entrance.
- The bedroom staircase was designed to be self-supporting, eliminating the need for additional steel supports and simplifying installation without compromising structural integrity.
- Frameless glass balustrades and hidden clamps were employed to ensure a clean and uncluttered appearance, while detailed 3D renders guided decisions on design, baluster style and glass thickness throughout the process.
The main staircase serves as the centrepiece of the home. Its flowing curves, carefully crafted timberwork and bespoke metal balusters combine to create a stunning focal point that enhances the entrance. The design shows how staircases can be both functional and architectural, contributing to the home’s overall style and sense of luxury.
Overall, the project demonstrates Input Joinery’s ability to deliver bespoke staircase solutions that meet both aesthetic and structural requirements. Craftsmanship, precision and premium materials contribute to creating an enduring staircase feature in the home.
