Our Timber
At Input Joinery, we believe that a masterpiece begins with the raw material. The selection of timber is the foundation of every door, window and staircase we create. By combining traditional joinery techniques with modern wood science, we ensure your project is built to last for generations.
Why Timber?
Unlike synthetic alternatives, timber offers a unique combination of natural insulation, structural strength, and timeless beauty.
- Sustainability: All our timber is sourced from well-managed, sustainable forests.
- Longevity: With proper care, timber outlasts uPVC by decades.
- Carbon Neutral: Timber stores carbon throughout its life, making it the environmentally responsible choice.
Choosing the Right Grain for the Job
Not all timber is created equal. Our experts select specific species based on the demands of the product:
| Timber Type | Best For... | Key Characteristics |
| Accoya | Windows & Doors | Modified wood with class-leading stability; it won’t shrink or swell, making it perfect for paint finishes. |
| European Oak | External Timber, Staircases & Heritage Projects | Exceptionally strong and durable with a classic, prestigious golden-brown grain. |
| Iroko | External Staircases | A dense, oily African hardwood that is naturally resistant to decay and moisture. |
| Sapele | Painted Joinery & Staircases | A stable, reddish-brown hardwood that provides a smooth, uniform surface for high-quality paint finishes. |
| American Walnut | Bespoke Staircases | A luxury hardwood known for its rich, dark tones and elegant figured grain. |
| Southern Yellow Pine | Bespoke Staircases | A versatile softwood with high density, offering a beautiful grain pattern for clear finishes. |

From Forest to Finish
We take full control of the supply chain to guarantee quality. Because we manage everything in-house, we don't rely on third-party pre-cuts.
- Expert Sourcing & Storage: We source only the highest grade of timber, ensuring minimal knots and consistent moisture content. Once delivered to our wood workshop, the timber is stored in a temperature-controlled environment to acclimatise, preventing warping or movement later.
- Precision Cutting: Using a mix of traditional saws and state-of-the-art CNC machinery, our craftsmen cut the raw timber to the exact specifications of your project. This "zero-waste" approach allows us to select the best sections of the board for structural components.
- Hand-Finished Craftsmanship: Even with modern technology, the final touch is always human. Every piece is sanded, inspected, and assembled by our joiners right here in our workshop.
Sustainability & Responsibility
We are committed to the planet as much as we are to our customers.
- PEFC Sourcing: We prioritise timber from certified sustainable sources.
- Waste Management: Our workshop is optimised for efficiency; timber offcuts and shavings are often repurposed or used for biomass heating, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
- Our Promise: We don't just build windows and doors; we build them out of the right wood, the right way, every single time.
